My golden bubble of joy at access: technology is filled with amazing families, and truly inspiring and knowledgeable colleagues, who collaborate so openly to find the best solutions to enable our clients to meet their goals
Rosie has a rainbow patchwork of prior experience and knowledge which has aligned to serve her in her role as an Assistive Technology Technician.
As a qualified maths teacher, she appreciates some of the technical challenges to be overcome when working in an education environment (and was absolutely amazed when introduced to the Splash software package!) Furthermore, her physics degree has exposed her to working with electronics and soldering work, which she has been able to apply to specific areas, such as switch-adapting items for our clients.
Time spent working in a phone shop has made her comfortable working interchangeably with different operating systems and setting up devices with an end-user’s specific needs in mind. Whereas, having previously worked within an IT department – in roles offering first line support and asset administration – has instilled the value of record keeping and communication when working in a team, and has allowed her to offer fresh ideas around inventory management in her current role.
In her spare time Rosie can be found in front of any number of screens, whether console or PC gaming, or sitting for hours on Duolingo! If encouraged into the outdoors, she enjoys going out for a garden centre breakfast, birdwatching and an oddly specific interest in vehicle number plates.
