Joining the access: technology family in 2021, Tom is a qualified teacher with six years of experience as a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) teacher.
He has worked with a range of age groups, from 2 to 19 years old, and specialises in communication strategies in educational contexts for learners with complex needs.
Tom has twin boys, one of which has cerebral palsy and communication difficulties. He uses Makaton widely with his son alongside other strategies to support him with his independence.
In addition to his qualifications as a SEND teacher, Tom is also qualified to teach English as a foreign language and has taught as far afield as South America and Australia.
