The Great North 10k - by client, Ben Rutherford

Ben recently completed the AJ Bell Great North 10k. This is the North East’s biggest and best 10k, according to the Let's do This website, and took runners on a journey through Newcastle city centre and past some of the city’s most iconic sights.

Our client, Ben Rutherford joined the race this year with a goal to create some great video content...

We were in the pink section, so we were at the back my number was 4879. So we were the last ones to go but in the end we were off. We were running, we went past ANE where I was for about a year. We were coming to the slip road joining us to the A1 that was the first time being on the A1 on well weeks since I am in a wheelchair.

It seemed like we were on there for ever, but I got up out my wheelchair and started walking with the help of Jo and Danielle whilst Andrew pushed my chair and ì walked a couple of meters it is hard to measure with just a video but anyway I got back in.

We were coming up to a tunnel and I knew what was going to happen so I just got on my loudest voice and someone shouted out OGI OGI OGI so I replied OI OI OI.

We passed another tunnel type thing but it was too short to shout anything in. I got up a couple more times but my camera had unfortunately no free storage, but I continued in the 10k. Luckily dad was filming me. Unfortunately we were just walking because Andrew was tired from pushing me but then Danielle spotted him amongst the crowd so we started to run again, but my dad had already spotted us.

We finally arrived at the finishing line the guy at the finishing line said all our names and we went to collect our medals and gift bag, but it was fun I would do that again!
